Okay, maybe not amazing. I just feel like I’m spinning a million different plates on a million different fingertips that I don’t have, and it ends right now. Forget the advice of big writers who say you must write every day. I am lucky if I can get dressed in the morning with my little ones crawling all over me. And you know what? Sometimes I don’t feel like writing. In fact, I’d say that’s about 90% of the time, so I don’t. And it doesn’t bother me because in the rare moments when I actually do want to write, I write a lot and I write stuff that I’m happy with.
So, this post is all about being allowed to be absorbed in other things besides writing and not beating myself up over it. I just found out we are moving to Cincinnati. Whaaaa???? Yup. The Midwest just can’t get rid of us. Luckily for me, the outdoor inspirations I once found in my childhood Colorado are etched right into my eyeballs for eternity, so when the corn fields and shallow hills of Iowa and Ohio aren’t quite enough to stir my pot for some good imagery in my newest book, well…you know what I mean. It’s always there. And the Midwest has some sunsets Colorado would die for.
